Study a market on its own channels, news and live ticks.
Pattern Scanner paints the candles of one symbol from the Market Vault and, on the right, a panel with five tabs: Filters, News, Regimes, Channels and Live. Its twin screen, Pattern Scanner - Marketing, is the same chart and the same panel plus the Boards export. Everything you compute here can go straight to the Strategy Lab or to a workflow with one button.
Channels per timeframe Each channel is computed with the closed candles of its own timeframe and projected on whatever timeframe the chart shows.
News and regimes Calendar events as markers on the candles, and the slope regimes of the market as coloured bands.
Live when you want it A Live switch polls the broker terminal every few seconds: forming bar, bid, broker time and the channel state at the quote.
One symbol selector for every screen
The symbol box is the same component in Pattern Scanner, Marketing and the Strategy Lab.
Type to filter; every row reads SYMBOL - source (first..last), where the range is what the Market
Vault holds for that symbol and source. When the source is a connected MetaTrader terminal the row also
shows the broker data that tells variants apart: description, group, contract size, tick value and
size, lot limits, margin mode, digits and spread. A symbol the terminal offers but the vault has never
downloaded reads terminal only, no vault candles.
Rows from every source are listed. Picking a row of another source switches the source and the symbol at the same time, and the last symbol is remembered per source.
The panel tabs
- Filters: days of the week and the UTC hour window of the candles you want to see.
- News: the calendar events painted on the candles. Show or hide them, pick the impact and the currencies (by default the currencies of the symbol), the window before and after each event, and event names with autocompletion. Density controls hide days with too few events.
- Regimes: the slope regimes of the market (strong up, up, flat, down, strong down) as bands on
the chart; the same eight knobs as the MCP tool
compute_regimes, and the option to keep only the days of one regime. - Channels: the channels of the symbol (next section).
- Live: the Live switch, off by default here. On, the chart asks the terminal every 5 seconds for the forming bar and the last quote, shows bid, broker time and UTC, and the channel states are evaluated at the quote.
Channels
A channel is a regression or pivot line with a band around it. Every channel card has:
- Its own timeframe. The channel is computed with the candles of that timeframe and projected on
the chart in any timeframe. The two defaults are
macro(D1, regression over the last year) andajustado-h6(H6, pivots over the last N closed bars). - N closed bars for the pivot channel, with a default that depends on the channel timeframe so the window keeps a sensible length in hours: 240 on M1, 144 on M5, 96 on M15 and M30, 120 on H1, 30 on H4, 20 on H6 and D1. A window shorter than two hours is flagged.
- Closed candles only. The bar still forming is never part of the computation; with Live on, the
state is evaluated at the current quote and the row says
at quotewith its time. - Candles fetched when the vault is short. If the vault does not hold the closed candles the channel needs, they are requested from the broker terminal and stored in the vault on the way, capped by a number of days per timeframe. The card says how many came from the vault and how many from the terminal, and when the total is still short.
The state row reads, for example, macro D1 up inside 69.8% hw 2542.262 r2 0.661 [2025-09-22 -> 2026-09-22]:
direction, state (inside, near_upper, near_lower, broken_up, broken_down), where the last
close sits in the band as a percentage, the half width, the fit quality for regressions and the exact
window of closed candles that built it. The pivot channel is drawn as a parallel band: a central line
and two borders at the same distance. The channel the analysis talks about is highlighted; the others are
dimmed, and a channel whose window is far larger than the chart (the D1 macro on a short intraday chart)
is drawn attenuated so it does not hide the candles. Labels are short and sit on the line, inside the
chart, never on the price axis.
Channel definitions are saved per symbol and timeframe (Save for NDX H6); Defaults restores the
two default channels.
BUY, SELL and WORKFLOW on every channel
- BUY / SELL open the Strategy Lab with a strategy whose entry is the central line of the channel,
used like a moving average: the close crosses above it (buy) or below it (sell), or simply stays
above or below, according to the
ruleselector of the panel. The backtest dates start where the channel starts. - WORKFLOW creates a workflow in the current list with one Rule Miner that carries the channel as its macro guard and starts mining on the day the channel starts; the rest of the miner is the default Rule Miner of the Workflows screen. The run is launched by hand from Workflows.
The buttons are disabled, with the reason, when the channel has not been computed or has no valid geometry.
The chart scale
The price scale follows the visible candles only. Channel lines, option levels and order lines never stretch it; a line outside the visible range is simply clipped.
Boards (Marketing)
Pattern Scanner - Marketing adds a Boards button: a self-contained HTML board per symbol with the
candles, the channel lines, the regime bands, the live quote with broker and UTC time and the state of
each channel. It is the same call as the MCP tool export_marketing_boards, which takes a list of
symbols and returns, per symbol, the file and the numbers the board shows: for each channel its
timeframe, the number of closed bars used, the exact window, how many candles came from the vault and
from the terminal, and whether the last bar was closed.
Through MCP
export_marketing_boards(above),compute_macro_channelwith atf(any vault timeframe, D1 by default) to freeze a channel as a strategy guard,compute_regimesfor the regimes.get_live_candlesandget_quotesread what the terminal has right now without writing to the vault;get_events_by_symbolreturns the calendar events of a date range crossed with the symbols each currency affects.
A channel is a description of the structure the market is in, not an entry signal by itself. The BUY / SELL / WORKFLOW buttons exist so that the structure you read on the chart becomes a testable strategy in one step, and the backtest, not the picture, decides.
